Personal History | Jonaya was born on Betazed in 2355, the yoounger of two, with an older brother. When she was eight, while playing with other children, she fell out of a tree, striking her head on the ground, which caused a traumatic brain injury. Doctors were able to save her life, but she was in a coma for three days. Once healed, she was carefully monitored, but there were no ill affects until she got older when her telepathic abilities never developed. This alienated her from Betazoid society, which led to teasing from other children. Jonaya got into fights and she was often called, Ferengi Girl. Because of her injury, surgeries, and medications in her treatment, it was discovered that she could not be read by telepaths and empaths. Normally outgoing and social, Jonaya drew more inward as she got older. Her father, dearly loving his little girl, tried everything he could to help, but when she was age seventeen, he encouraged Jonaya to apply to Starfleet. That was a place she could truly fit in. After thinking about it for a few days, she decided to try. After graduating high school, she took the entrance exam and was accepted to study security and tactical. The day she left home was filled with hugs and tears. |

Service Record | Jonaya loved being a cadet in Starfleet Academy; her father was right that it was a place she would be accepted for who she was. Earth was beautiful and when she had free time, she would go exploring and site-seeing with friends. Though security measures were tight because of the Dominion War, it was still a wonderful time. That ended when the Breen attacked Earth. Jonaya survived without injury, though some of her friends were killed. A dark, heavy cloud hung over the rest of her time there. Graduating in 2377, Jonaya served one year at Starfleet HQ before being assigned to the USS Sunfire. |
